Our aim.

To increase the health and wellbeing of autistic people living, learning, and working south of Adelaide, by building capacity, capability, and connection to an autistic community of identity and community of place.

Founded by Sharon Claire in 2024, BRIGHTsouth began from a deep desire to create meaningful change.

Sharon combined her background in training and education, a career in community development and resilience-building, and knowledge of mental health and wellbeing, with her lived-experiences of autism, disability, and mental illness, to form BRIGHTsouth.

BRIGHTsouth is committed to making a positive impact on our community. We recognise that although we share common experiences, each autistic person is unique.

Our vision is BRIGHT: Belonging, Recognition, Insight, Growth, Health, and Trusted. To achieve this, we have created an inclusive and understanding online space to explore, embrace and grow.

We use a combination of evidence-based research and practical guidance founded in lived-experience, to help you to navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and enhance your wellbeing.

We share trusted information and resources. Whether you're here to learn more about autism, explore strategies to support you to live your best life, or find tools for self-empowerment, you’re in the right place.

Autism is a difference, not a disorder. It’s not just challenges and difficulties, especially when you are well supported. We invite you to celebrate your unique strengths and differences. The autistic experience can be incredible, satisfying, surprising and wonderous.
